This is one of the best restaurants in Punta del Este to go for any meal. It boasts an extensive wooden deck right on Mansa beach with panoramic views of the Atlantic. The breakfast here is sublime and you’re spoilt for choice: they do a great bowl of homemade muesli, fruits, and yoghurt, a variety of sweet and savory pastries, pies, waffles, and Eggs Benedict. It’s also a cocktail bar so you can always have a Bloody (or Virgin) Mary to go with your meal!

2. Il Belvedere

Il Belvedere is a renowned hotel in Punta del Este with fantastic facilities and an amazing restaurant. Their brunch selection is sublime, with various homemade breads and buns baked daily, freshly-squeezed juices, and a great variety of dishes. Its staff pay great attention to detail and it has a sea view as an added bonus.

This bakery-turned-restaurant is not to be missed, its beautiful wooden deck with comfortable sofas is ideal to enjoy the perfect morning. They make exceptional homemade bread and bizcochos that can be paired with a variety of egg-based dishes or cereals. If you’re going for brunch, you can try their signature dish: Lahmajoun with yoghurt and mint, a gentle nod to the owner’s Lebanese heritage.

4. El Secreto

“The Secret” is an apt name for this restaurant, as they must have a well-kept secret to produce their delicious meals. It’s located in a busy area close to the port, which is often frequented for lunch and dinner. The secret is to go here for breakfast so you can enjoy the scenery when there’s fewer people about. Ask for the continental breakfast for two or three and you will get a capresse quesadilla (with mozzarella, tomato, and basil), scrambled eggs with pancetta, medialunas (similar to mini-croissants), toast, ham and cheese, hot cakes with honey and jam, orange juice, and a plate of seasonal fruits.

A medialuna is a savory pastry similar to a mini-croissant. They are adored by many, both by themselves or topped with sweet syrup. Medialunas Calentitas is famous for making the best medialunas, but they also make other dishes that are great for brunch such as pies and empanadas. Whatever you end up ordering, make sure you have at least one medialuna before you leave!

As its name suggests, you will find some delicious sweet and savory crêpes to go along with coffee, lemonade, or freshly-squeezed juice. A classic in Manantiales, Mar de Verdes is a local favorite because of its close location to the famous Bikini Beach and its gorgeous natural food. It’s so popular it gets busy as soon as it opens; some ask for freshly-made juices and lemonade to go, while others stay for a hearty meal. A couple of their highlights are the avocado toast with egg or the scrambled eggs and salmon, you can also find fruit plates and other sweet delicacies.

News Café’s menu has a little bit of everything—they even serve sushi—and every single dish is a delight. Their cappuccino with whipped cream and a generous portion of cake will satisfy your sweet tooth! Other favorites for breakfast and brunch are their amazing grilled sandwiches and other baked goods, but ultimately it’s their cakes that go down best.
